We have all heard this saying over the years, and I surely do not take it lightly.
I have so much respect for our veterans and those who lost loved ones due to service
of our country. As we celebrate the kick off of the holiday, please give a special thanks to all who served
and are serving our country. It is something I do year round, not just on holidays.
Did you know Memorial Day did not become an official federal holiday until 1971?
Yet, Americans across our USA country have been remembering those who died in defense of our country and way of life
for over 100 years every spring. By 1890, most states had proclaimed May 30th as Memorial Day and regarded it as an
official holiday. Southern states had their own memorial days but, after World War I, they began to join the rest of the nation.
